My friend Rachel was in town from Washington state so we headed up to the mountains for the day. We ended up in Leadville for the train and Wild Flower Tour. The train leaves from Leadville and heads north for a bit, following highway 91. The engine pushes the train up and then pulls it back to Leadville with no turn-around spots. It goes through evergreens and aspens with a visit to a big water tower. The Wild Flower tour was special because they let us off at the water tower and took us up into the meadows to point out all of the flowers in the area. There were many!
After the train we headed over to the Healy House and Dexter Cabin for lunch and a tour. It’s a really cool house! The tour guide was really good and the volunteers made us feel very welcome. It was a great end to a great day spent in Leadville. This combination would be great for out-of-town guests.
